I saw a video where the cosplay chess was mixed with the masquerade.

Yeah, I saw that. I didn't like it because it seemed like they planned everything out. I dunno, it just didn't seem as fun with it planned. Atleast to me.

I saw the video a while back and was like "This is so coool >w<" We HAVE to do this. Now guys, we can always play more than one round. I'm thinking we can do random anime's[subject, genre, random characters, whoever wants too, hair color, ectect whatever], all leading up to the main event[seeing as most people want to do it] of Akatsuki vs. Org. 13. That way people can see variety, then the people who want to see the Avs.O13 event can wait patiently if they really want to see it, and the other games would be entertaining anyways, and then if anyone doesn't want to watch the Avs.O13, they can leave after the randoms are done. Simple? I dunno, that's what I'm thinking. As for who commands, I thin there should be a game where the special guests choose people who volenteer for a game and command them. Then there can be one with a L and Light cosplayers, and really anyone who wants too, and understands the game. If people really want it, then the L and Light could do the Avs.Org13 commands. Y/N/Maybe So?

Yes! It would be awesome. : )
But again, the issue is raised up, will this be official or not? I think even if the con did not officially host this, we could always come up with our own game... so, really, you don't really even need to plan anything, xD; someone should just start asking people for a round of cosplay chess. o=

I think we should stay away from series v.s. series as much as I would love seeing some of the match ups.

Spambots. >_>
My team ran Cosplay Chess at Sugoicon for the past two years. I'll tell you, the best investment you can possibly make if you want to do this, is an actual chess board to keep track of your moves.
Some good MCs are also very helpful. The moves in between the fights are, quite frankly, boring. You need someone filling the air to keep the crowd involved. We also picked out our players so they'd interact back and forth.
Still some kinks to work out but it's definitely getting there.

One way I see that is the chess pieces can taunt each other while the Chess masters are picking their moves. I don't know, I've never played it... but again, yeah, it would be fun to happen. (= So... you run your event on the stage?

Rule number one of any event with audience participation: Assume your audience is neutral at best. The problem is a lot of people don't do much more than what they're directly prompted for on stage. I can speak from experience, as I've also been working on Whose Line is it Anime for the past year at various conventions. Occasionally, you'll get someone absolutely brilliant, but more likely than not, you'll get someone decent who fills the role and makes the scene move along. Since that's the more likely outcome, you have to plan with that in mind. So a lot of the entertainment value of Cosplay Chess is derived from the people on stage. You need three people who know each other and two of which have a good repartee with each other at the board. Your third is the MC. Again, I'm not saying that the chess pieces won't be entertaining, but you can't plan the audience, you can only plan yourselves. As far as the setup, we had our players and MC on the stage, and the chess pieces on the ground. I've got the playlist on my Youtube homepage. And yes, you can see exactly where we broke down at and had to hurriedly come up with SOMETHING to fill the space, because the chess pieces weren't doing much of anything (except Khampton, aka ninja cat). Ooh, I love the idea of a cosplay chess game! I would love to participate. Especially if it's planned out beforehand like a skit. I love acting. X3
