Anime St. Louis' Annual Summer (cosplay-optional!) Picnic Date? June 24
Time? starts at 11am, and goes 'til around sundown or so
Place? Creve Couer Park, the Greensfelder Pavilion ****Directions!****Take 270W to Dorsett Rd. Get off at Dorsett and hang a right. Go through the four-way stop, continuing straight on the road. You'll keep going until that road comes to a "T" where you can either go left or right, to the lake. You'll go right, and almost immediately you'll see another road that veers off to the left. A large green sign will read "Greensfelder Memorial" before the turn. Go up that road, and follow it straight until it loops around to the pavilion and the children's playground, which you'll see first. It's super easy to find, and secluded! ^_^ The perfect place for us. ____________________ Some Things to Remember:1.) Please leave the drama at home. People come to this event to enjoy themselves. 2.) No weapons, be they foam, wooden, etc. They can be a hazard (an unintentional one), and we don't want anyone to get hurt. Given that there is such a large turn-out for this event I'd rather be safe than sorry. Should anyone want to set-up a cosplay photoshoot during the picnic, then weapons will be allowed at that time. Sorry guys, but everyone (myself included) really enjoys this, and I would hate for it to have to end because someone was seriously injured. 3.) It would be greatly appreciated if everyone brought something to share with the group (cookies, soda, coolers, ice, etc.) 4.) Absolutely no alcohol! 5.) Cosplay is optional, and welcomed! ____________________ If anyone has an idea for an activity, let me know! Still hammering out the details, but I just wanted to let everyone know that, yes, it will be happening again. Due to the large number of people in attendance last year (over 100!) we're going to have to do things a little differently. Namely, renting a pavilion. I'm working out something with the staff, and I'll give you guys all the details as soon as I can! Also, atm I'm thinking about trying the swap-meet again, though this time regulating it. Last year Tat suggested (and I'm just gonna quote him): "...making a list of what we have and lay the list on the table. On the list it would say something like: Sabi ----- I have: -Bleach Manga volume 1 And if someone is interested they can go up to you and ask for a trade. That way everything isn't out in the open (less grabbing) but is still advertised for trading." And if you're wondering where you would keep your things I suggest a vehicle, if possible. For those of you that are being dropped off I'll offer my car as storage. I can bring bags for y'all to put your things in, and we can label the bags so nothing gets mixed up.

Uh. As for dates, maybe in the middle of June? I:> Kinda vague right now but it is early in the morning. Are we really getting a pavilion this time? xDDD;

A good date is maybe when there's not a Cardinals game at Busch so I don't wind up missing work . Naw, but since it's less than a few months, i can take off work. Somewhere in the middle of June works.

Unfortunately June is a busy month for me. I don't have a free weekend that month until the 24th. I know that sounds selfish, but... Also, when I contacted Creve Couer the weekends were already pretty much booked (basically up through August). This is the earliest date I was able to figure out.
This year is going to work a little differently, guys. I'm talking to the con chair about making the event an "official" event, meaning it really would be the Anime St. Louis Summer Picnic, lol. And yes, Hime-sama, we are going to have to rent a pavilion this year. There was so many people last year, and seeing as the park is going to be so busy I don't want there to be any problems. Still working out the details with the staff about this, though. I'm looking at the Greensfelder Pavilion, which we've never been around before, but it can hold up to 125. The one we used last year is booked solid through August, so that's a no-go.

I am fine with whatever date is dished out as long as it's a few weeks in advance so I can ask off.
I have a lot of manga to dump off but don't really feel like going through the trouble of trading. :/ I think that was part of the problem last year is I let everyone take my stuff so then people had the idea they could do that to everyone.
So maybe I'll let people do their trades for a few hours and then let people go nuts grabbing my old manga.

Was the pavilion where we were last Summer picnic? And I have a bunch of old stuff I wouldn't mind trading.

I can't go if it's a weekday unless someone gave me a ride. With my new job, I work every weekday, and so does my mom.

Sounds like fun, and Creve Couer park is less than a mile from my house. Although I'd feel weird going to something like that alone with a bunch of people who are probably much younger than me.

Actually I think the ASTL base here has gotten older. There are some immature or young people but not as many as you think. You should at least try it! It's not far from your house so ~

I'm sure the fanbase here isn't too young, although I do feel old at 26 most of the time.

Vizard: No, it won't be at the same pavilion. Unfortunately that pavilion is booked solid through August, but hopefully we can rent one with basically the same stuff around it, just in a different location. Once the reservation is made (still in progress at this point) I'll take a drive out there and give y'all directions. :3
Chopper: You should come check it out anyway. A lot of people come by themselves, but everyone's so friendly that it all works out. It's always a lot of fun!
Tat: Yeah, there was a lot of confusion about the whole thing last year, but hopefully it'll go smoother this year since I'm setting up some regulations. *nods* I'd say, for you, that'd be a good idea. :3

So if we wanted to bring stuff to trade, do we just show up with the stuff or post what we want to trade here?
