The idea of stand up has been floating around for a while now. (Mainly from some rumors of activity in the anime room late at night at this year's con along with Katana constantly reminding us that he wants to tell the funnies. ) While I hate that we have to have age limits, (I personally am very open minded about what I feel is appropriate for young audiences having grown up on zombie movies and George Carlin.) it's part of the harsh reality of running a convention and having your name on the company contract when it all comes down to it. We're not out to get the teenagers. I promise you. You guys are like 190% of the convention. It's true. I saw a pie chart. It's honestly just a mixture of wanting to not censor anyone and legal protection. Now, that said, we're not official on anything yet as far as this event goes. For all I know, we may end up deciding to have a tryout for comedians and then poll the ones allowed in the event to see if they feel comfortable doing PG-13 sets. Once we know more, we'll announce it on the boards.

I say 21+ so the audience can drink, the more intoxicated they are! The funnier I am! Just borrow your big sis driver license, stuff yo bra, gaudy makeup, and wear high heels and your good to go! Security won't know any better.

In regards to the age debate, the comedy club in my area has a "Clean Tuesdays and Thursdays" that doesn't have edgy humor. If there are enough comdedians who can make clean jokes for this event maybe you guys can have a "Clean" version and then the 18+ show?

I practiced at Anime Iowa08 and had a group of Naruto cosplayers rolling. I laughed when I saw kakashi crying because he was laughing so hard he was crying. Its funny when a man with a semi eye patch cry from laughter.
