In Japan, it's tradition to tell scary ghost stories on summer nights. Frightening tales send chills down the body, and so ghost stories are a way of cooling down during the heat of the summer. In the Edo period, a popular game was the Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai, in which 100 candles were lit, and everyone in the room told a story, and each time a story was finished, they blew out a candle.
Even though Anime St. Louis isn't in the summer, I thought a fun late-night event would be to have a story circle, in which a group of people gather into a circle and one-by-one, go around the room telling a scary story. Granted, I don't think candles will be feasible, but telling scary stories might be fun, especially if anyone knows any traditional Japanese stories.
What do you think?

I'm sure there are summaries of scary Kabuki or Noh plays that could be told as ghost stories. I'll try to think of titles or other things that I have heard.

I'd so come but I would have any stories~ I don't know any good stories, and I fail at storytelling. XD If I had to I'd be like, "Once apon a time, all the Bishies in the world blew up. The end." -shot-

Sounds like a fun idea! I can see it getting a bit off track if someone decides to be ridiculous or tell a really long story, but as long as people don't get out of hand it would be really fun.

I also fail at telling ghost stories. I can never remember the ones I was told as a child. I tried to make one up once, but it was probably the least scary thing ever. It was about chess pieces coming to life. >_<

I can see where pieces of chess coming to life could be scary. Like little People attacking you...*.*'

I would love to join this part of the convention. It is mentioned in the anime XXX Holic. The anime talks about many types of myths and legends of japan. I really hope that we can do this. What day would we try to do this?
