I don't think this is a masquerade. XD; would be pretty cool if it was, though ;o I'll probably make a mask anyway ^_____^

Greetings! The formal dance will most likely occur, as there hasn't been any objections, and it sounded like a fun thing to try this year rather than pre-rave dance and THE RAVE. While it won't be titled as a masquerade, people are still welcome to bring whatever accessories to add to their formal outfit, like a mask or something else. We're still determining the details, and we'll post more once its finalized.
One detail that is being discussed is music for it. If folks have any music they would like to waltz, tango, etc. to, I recommend putting a CD together, juuuuuust in case.

We're still determining the details, and we'll post more once its finalized. One detail that is being discussed is music for it. If folks have any music they would like to waltz, tango, etc. to, I recommend putting a CD together, juuuuuust in case. Um *waves hand in air* I objected. Other people have, too. I won't be angry if it really does happen XP Just a bit disappointed. Formal dances are nice and all...but most of those who're into it are thinking it'll be magical and what not, like in a movie. Or think it's gonna be like prom, which isn't all that amazing like people make it sound and most certainly isn't like a ball :/ I wouldn't be surprised if most of it consisted of couples dancing in a little circle like in high school...and frankly, I'm not into that. Kinda old for it, unless I'm just goofing off X3 What I would like to know, is if this does happen, how will con goers act? If there's classical music that has actual types of dances fit for it, how will people dance to it? I'm not against it because I couldn't waltz or whatever, I just don't think it'll be very fun. Not for long, anyway *shrugs* If people really want to attend a ballroom dance, then they can sign up for it...where it'll be serious and perhaps even fairytale-like. This is an anime convention...it's hot, lots of people are hyper, some even really drunk from partying in rooms... If any of what I just said sounds angry or something, I sorries ^ ^'

My sentaments exactly....if anything for those that do wish to learn how to ballroom style dance...then I would suggest teaching the simple basics of simple dance so that they can get a feel like of what accual ballroom style is supposed to be. Like before the dance there could be a grace time or session for learning how to ballroom dance just before the dance. I would say maybe atleast 30 mins to an hour would be suffecent time for the people who wish to learn a bit...for them to learn. I like the idea and to keep people intrested in the formal dance part...the know how might be a good thing.

I dunno, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. If it turns out to be a blast, then great *shrugs* I just wouldn't be surprised if peoples went elsewhere out of boredom XP

I believe the Formal should be given a shot. I think its safer than two raves in a row, becuase thats when people are the most reckless and we've had warnings to make sure no damages at all are to the walls or anything, not even water can be on the walls.

I agree in having the formal dance...I am all for it. But like I said...we might have more people sticking with it if they accually knew how to ballroom style dance. I have taken dancing classes before and know how to ballroom thanks to that. Giving a short 30min class before hand on the basics on ballroom dancing...would and might be a better shot to accually keep people there and having fun in it.

Pain I second the small dance lesson thing for those who want to try it. And for those who think that just because there's a formal dance it's going to be serious.. . .I highly doubt that. It's an anime con- it's sure to be looser than prom. I'll be sure to bring some CD's. Chopin. . .Wagner hell yeah!

not to mention Mozart
I will be willing to help teach the small session before the dance with a partner to the group that wants to learn for it
