i agree about people thinking it makes them more otaku cause they like it, personaly i think it is overrated, it just a bland snack

I never noticed Pocky as an Otaku food, despite being an introverted anime fan for like, many years. I've had Pocky wayyy before conventions, and I thought no one else knew about it... what a foolish child I was! XD
Well, it's good to know that there are different opinions, but I kind of think classing Pocky into an Otaku food group is more or less of a stereotype... Pocky is a snack. I like that snack. Simple enough.
