I would suggest always bringing cash and probably a debit/credit card for back up/emergency reasons only. Reason being - you blow all your cash and you think "oh well I've got some money in my account" and you use it all up too. Then you won't have any money in your account - which is not good. - I haven't actually done this- though it is tempting to do (just recently got a debit and don't have a credit card.) Also if you blow all your money at the con and are on your way home and you have car troubles. -You want to make sure you have some kind of money on you just in case. Just be careful what you spend ^_^ - sorry this is coming from a soon-to-be teacher/poor college student. I have to start the nagging some time.

That is the best advice Rika. ^^
I always bring 200-300 dollars cash with me and leave my debit card at home to avoid taking out more cash. It's worked well for me and I've always been left with 100 dollars at the end of con because it makes me budget myself, thinking strongly of my purchases.

Where will the Dealer's room be located anyway or has it not been decided yet?

If you plan to buy anything from artists, yeah they rarely ever can take credit/debit because they just don't have the means

tat - Thanks, yeah I also bring around $200. I usually end up coming home with only 40 though... but then I still have money in my account so its all good! Naggy teacher note: Con goers are very nice, but there are still creepers lurching around. Don't leave purses/money holders anywhere! I don't even leave any of my money in the hotel room.... yeah I'm that paranoid
