It Is just a rumor but apperenly doomsday is upon the internet, today, April 1st.
The Conflicker Virus is to be awakened and is estimated to hit more than 1million computers. I'm not normally one to believe things like this--but I saw this on Yahoo's front page a few weeks ago and one of my net-bros reminded me of the "danger that luriks"
So a friendly reminder today:
*Stay away from links
*Becareful of sites even you think you know
*Don't download supcious .exes today
*Don't accept file transfers
*Don't p2p share [LIMEWIRE <--never do it]
*Don't Torrent.
*Make sure your firewall is on and that you have updates on your spyware/malware software
These are all things everyone should follow on the internet, just today maybe a little more firmly.
Just a reminder if anyone believes in this sort of thing.

I was informed of this... like, yesterday. So... >~>;;;... I'm actually pretty scared in some ways.
It's either just a prank to get people scared or it's going to be srs bsns... I hope it's just a prank. D:

^ Its a computer virus. I don't think it's specific to windows. yes, but there are specific viruses for different computer types.. Pc, and macs... macs dont normally get viruses b/c people dont normally make them for macs, considering most people have pcs... I just wanted to know if there is a chance there is mac stand... |

Our school's technology person sent us an email about this:
"It is believed that a major threat called Conficker will activate on April 1. It is estimated that 9 million computers have been infected.
Conficker is a worm (something like a virus), that cropped up in November. It exploits a vulnerability in Windows that Microsoft fixed in October.
If you have a Windows computer at home, someone should apply the Microsoft Software Update and update the antivirus and any other security software.
NOTE: This does NOT work on a Mac using OS X (like all of our laptops.)"

It only effects Windows and if you run the windows update and the Malicious Software Removal Tool they release every month it should get rid of it. The patch for fixing the exploits the virus uses were fixed last October, so if you have run the windows update and patched that then it shouldn't be an issue at all.

It's just a virus. You can get a virus at any time. This is just a scare because it is April Fools Day so people are gonna freak out and they will freak out if you tell them. It's like telling someone they are gonna get struck by lightning. They will freak out, but the chances of getting struck by lightning are still the same. I don't believe it one bit.

I can find things a lot easier with a windows or an HP computer. With a mac, it takes me forever to find something. Plus, you can't even right click on a mac. There are more things, but I can't think of any at the moment, plus I am a bit lazy.
