I didn't really know where else to put this, but since I do have a question regarding this matter, along with some feedback on it, I thought I'd stick it here. I'm a bit worried about some of the rules you guys are setting for the cosplay discount. I completely agree with the rule about L and cat ears, but other than that, it kinda seems a bit harsh. Why can't school girls get a discount? I know a lot of poeple pay good money for those costumes, and many anime feature characters that are exclusively in a schoolgirl outfit (Kagome from Inuyasha or the girls from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei for example). It seems a bit harsh to say that no school girls get in when someone with a white long sleeved shirt and jeens from Walmart with a gelled hairdo can get the discount, but someone who payed $80+ on their schoolgirl outfit can't. The same goes for RPCs. Sure, some suck, but there are some really cool original characters out there. I have a costume I payed $1200 for, but he's an original character, does that mean I won't get a discount? Let's not forget that cosplay is short for costume play, and not anime costume play. Also, with the 4chan thing, I'm assuming you just mean the "b" forum, because trust me, if it is anime, it's been on 4chan. With that rule you are technically saying almost all anime costumes are exempt from the cosplay rule. Also, regarding mudkips in general, what if someone makes a suit of a mudkip? Like a full fursuit mudkip because they just really like mudkips? Does that mean they don't get a discount? I'm not meaning to sound like an ass here, I just am really confused as to why some of these rules are in place.

Whoa whoa whoa slow down. .___.' what I said was: "DO NOT COSPLAY A SCHOOL GIRL and forget what school you go to. School girl is only tolerated if you are cosplaying from a specific school or academy. No made up schools please. Bring a picture if you're scared of being turned down." School girls are tolerated but you MUST be from an academy of an anime now please. And reference pictures are highly recommended as the cosplay discount is based on JUDGMENT as well. If a volunteer doesn't know who you are and you didn't bring a picture-- then you miss out. If you spend $80 dollars on a costume you can spend .15 cents to print a picture to get a 5 dollar discount. The same goes for RPCs. Sure, some suck, but there are some really cool original characters out there. I have a costume I payed $1200 for, but he's an original character, does that mean I won't get a discount? Let's not forget that cosplay is short for costume play, and not anime costume play. RPC are pretty much 95% not tolerated anymore. Because people don't try at it. Sorry if people before you have messed up RPC but that's how it is. Naruto color swaps or pallet changes are allowed. If you have a reference picture all is well. But if it really looks like you spent maybe 5 bucks and 1% effort. It's insulting. Again, it falls back on the reference picture. And I mean really--you answered your own question. Spending 1.2k on a costume to lose out to an L who just strolls in unmade, don't you think that's unfair? I made these rules to protect people like you who spend so much to be beaten by so little. You're welcome Also, with the 4chan thing, I'm assuming you just mean the "b" forum, because trust me, if it is anime, it's been on 4chan. And the mudkips? If it's a full blown mascot mudkips why yes. Yes they can get the discount. But Guy Fawke masks, "Anon"/David and other chan memes will not. I know it's hard to believe but Anime existed BEFORE 4chan. To make the assumption because it's anime it's automatically 4chan related is a little extreme, don't you think? Mudkips was a pokemon before a meme--don't forget this. The reason why mudkips was mentioned was to get the attention of the channers who think we don't know what their kind of idea of "fun" is. And their kind of "fun" isn't tolerated. tl;dr: Spend 5~30 minutes getting/drawing a reference picture, take another .15cents to print it and save the $5 if you are THAT worried. It's all still based on judgment and we reserve the right to deny it. Have a nice day

No need to be condescending. I was only asking, and still it does still bother me about some of these rules. Again with the school girl, why can't a generic school girl get in? I can go to ebay right now and find probably more than 100 different school girl cosplays, some original, some not, so why do they have to be from an actual school or anime? Like I said before, those costumes are expensive and there is no reason I can see to not allow them to have the discount just because they aren't from an anime or RL school.
I do think it is unfair that bad L cosplays can get 5 bucks off when great originals don't, but your rule says no originals get it, even if they DID try. That is more insulting to me to be honest. Like I said, I've got a super expensive original character I was planning on wearing to ASTL this year, but if it's not even going to be appreciated by staff, why bother? I might as well go to Walmart and buy L's clothes.
I was in no way saying that all anime is 4chan related. Your rule says and I quote, "•DO NOT COSPLAY *ANYTHING* FROM 4CHAN." Since anime is a main thing on 4chan, this will be a tough rule to enforce. Maybe a better rule could be to not cosplay memes. And why isn't that idea of fun tolerated? Just because you guys don't like it? That's a bit tough too isn't it? Lots of anime fan enjoy memes and think they are pretty funny, so where is the harm in having fun?

... but your rule says no originals get it, even if they DID try... Actually, OCs are allowed. There was some confusion in uploads or something. OCs are allowed, BUT it strongly reinforces your costume if you have a drawing you/a friend made. If you have questions on whether or not your costume counts towards the discount, you are welcome to e-mail us a picture and photos to help us determine this ahead of time. Remember, reference pictures help clean up a lot of confusion.

Generic. Just as we want to avoid generic cat-eared-anyones from claiming the discount, so do we wish to avoid generic school-girls from doing the same. There was a bit of a jump in the amount of them, and we wish to better control it. As for the 4chan rule, I think it can be established that 4chan = meme, not anime, but thank you for the suggestion and we will consider it for better clarity.

Thanks for the clarification doublej. However, I still don't agree that 4chan=meme, becuase only "b" is known for memes, there are tons of other things on 4chan, such as the "y" and "cm" boards that are pretty serious. I'm not a big 4chan user, but I've found some great images there in the non memey boards. I just don't want anyone else to get confused or anything. Is there an email address I can send my concept art and costume photo to or should I upload it somewhere on the forums? Again, thanks for the clarification.
