I'm just curious to see who uses what type of camera after seeing the videos from ASTL this year. I'm wanting to buy an actual camcorder since I have a digital camera because when I playback the videos on my Vista desktop, the sound is gone (except if I use the VCL player). I wonder if most people just use their digital cameras to take videos—rather than having both types.
Offhand, Kazuku and Malindachan's (they're the ones I recently watched videos from) cameras have video quality that I really like.

Aww.. Thanks. ^_^
The first camera I used was actually my mom's camera, which is the best quality between the two cameras in the house. Mom's is a Pentax Optio M-20, which is 7.0 megapixels. I switched over to my camera when I got it for Christmas. That one is... well... I'm not exactly sure. DXG-565V is what it says on the inside of the camera, and my grandparents got that one at Kohls. I believe I've seen one at Target, too, but it was the HD version. My camera is 5.1 megapixels, which is obviously lower than my mom's. It doesn't really do well with a whole lot of motion (watch the video of me as Larxene chaseing Kadaj as Axel for a good example of that) and it doesn't pick up sound very well.
Only reason I prefer my camera over my mom's is because mine has a flip screen, and that is my favorite kind of camera.
Both cameras are able to take video and pictures, but if you were to look into them, mom's is the more expensive one. I think mine was about $99? I can't remember now.

So that's why I couldn't find you in the list of people online in the last 24 hours! Your name is different now XD If I kept up with the forums, I would know these things ^^; I wish I could give users kudos because you (and the others who always have a camera with video on hand) deserve one for documenting things. So the one you used at ASTL this year and at the meet up is the camera you got for Christmas? If so, that's awesome. The digital camera I have at home is 5.0 MPs and capable of taking videos, but it automatically saves them as AVIs, and I can't convert them. That, and they load without sound thanks to missing some driving on Vista. I think mine's a Sanyo or something. It's video is very grainy, which is why I like your videos so much. I saw one that's like yours online, but they only had it in pink. I don't care for that. XD I've been looking and found an RCA camcorder that I"d like to have for 74.88 that has gotten some good reviews. Viewing a few test videos on walking and things, I think it'd be perfect for me since I rarely have a chance to use a recorder. I just wish it'd have a night feature.

XD! Tricked you. ^_^"
But yeah. Anything after Christmas was done on my camera. It's a pretty nice camera. It's also fun to record people and then flip the screen randomly so they can see themselves (it's even funnier when they don't know my camera can do that).

That you did!
Awesome! I bet you get a lot of embarrassed or shocked people when you flip the screen around to let them have a good look at themselves on camera.
Camera shopping is so tedius. It gave me a headache reading though those reviews. It was like pulling teeth to find a site that I could see test videos from cameras and user reviews as well. There are so many mixed reviews that it's hard to make a decision. I need to actually have on hands on that I can play with the store models. Maybe I can find one like yours that I can test in store. Nevermind, it's not sold in Walmart stores (closest thing around here where I live).
It seems this RCA I looked up has a flip LCD screen, but I don't know if it would turn backwards to face away from the user. It may just have to be a birthday present. I want a good camcorder as well as my digital for Natsucon.

Actually, most of the responses to the camera flip screen are," O.O Wow... XD!"
I wouldn't mind getting another camera someday that takes better quality, but I'll stick with this camera for now. ^_^

What I should really look for is a camcorder that I could set up on a tripod and record myself with instead of simply buying a handheld. That's what I would find useful in a camera. Oh, looky there, this RCA doesn't have a zoom. That's not good. I'm forever spoiled to my 8mm tape camcorder with a flip out screen, night mode (as well as nightvision), and extra zoom. XD

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC38, which they don't make anymore. It recorded really great except I didn't have a firewire cable and that was a pain in the butt. The stuff that I recorded with my camera is on the YouTube channel PDKosplay.
When I record with my digital camera the quality is crap.

Your videos for the masquerade turned out very nicely.
