i am very scared

yesterday when i came downstairs to feed my dad's fish, our male betta was dead
i knew being in that big tank with so many fish was bad for him, so i call my dad and tell him so
he says, well the other two should be okay

i came over this morning to feed my dad's fish, and the unnamed female is dead, so i call my dad and tell him again that the big tank is no good for them and ask how to set up a open-top apropriate betta tank for the last one, my favorite one, the alpha female, Tadpole

i came home tonight to feed the fish again and i go to chek on little Tadpole...

and she isn't in her tank
i found her halfway to the other side of the room
on the floor
dead

now that i think of it, one of my first bettas when i was little jumped out of his tank once, but me and my dad were sitting there watching him at the time, and dad caught him

We've got a betta, too... ironically named Demyx (that wasn't my idea, Demdem... It was my sister's idea).

Betta's jump out of their bowls/tanks/etc a lot. They're known to do that, actually. I've seen dead betta's out of their bowls and on the floors in Wal-Mart stores before. The ideal containment for them should have a lid on them just to be sure they won't get out.

Also, betta's are known to be really agressive fish, especially with other bettas. Just showing our little Demyx his reflection sets him off.

Fish commit suicide if they can, it's weird. The tank shouldn't have been open topped.
