If there are subtitles in the footage like in Final Fantasy where there are subtitles mainly VII (ending) and Crisis Core FMVs I can usually remove them with my program. I can cut stuff out with some tool. I've gotten much better at using it and found some really neat fading effects (those are my favorites.) The only problem I have is keeping the resolution with it. It sometimes makes it fuzzy and really ticks me off. My pet peeves of AMVs - repeated scenes! I really hope there is another contest. AMV making is one of my favorite things to do in my free time.

Someone may have already asked this already but I was thinking of making an amv but I wanted to ask people who already knew, what are some free programs that are good to use to make AMVs with? Thanks!

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not yet, but can we have an iron editor contest? The one at Anime Iowa went over really well, and it'd be fun to have one here!

._.; well as I stated earlier, my video won in a category and it indeed had SUBS and I couldn't get rid of them and the judges didn't care, so I don't think it's a big deal, it's sort of a golden rule not to pay attention to them anyways if you know they're not intended to go along with the plot line of it =/

I've got a few that I've made recently that I'd love to enter. One is a Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, and Pretear AMV with the song Hands by Jewel. I spent a super long time with it, but youtube won't let me upload it with audio because of the song. Tis a bummer... I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 12 to make all my videos now. The Windows movie maker likes to freeze on me and I can't time stuff the way I want to. I like the Magix program even though it cost me a little, but all the different effects and fades make it worth it.

I have my AMv ready to send in except for one problem, the file size lol. Any idea how to make it a smaller file size (or how the files would get to be that large...) EDIT: Converting your videos to the file format .mov helps size issues

I don't have to do that even...I have an even easier way of removing subs from video (but it's my secret!). and with repeated scenes, that is one of the commandments of amv making. but if you make it work...then I don't see any harm. It works perfect for my style of amv for the contest. It's short, but very hilarious...hope everyone likes it!

Well yeah I guess there are ways to make repeated scenes work, especially with comedy.
I sent my videos off this week. Only 2 for the video contest. A drama one and a comedy one. Then 2 for the exhibiton.

good luck with those, looking forward to seeing them...what's the comedy one about? Mine is in the style of Robot chicken w/ short black transition sequences.

Thanks, you too. I look forward to seeing them. The robot chicken thing sounds interesting.
For the comedy one I did an Ouran High School Host Club one for comedy. Its a lip sync to "I Just Can't Wait to be King"

I've actually seen a little bit of Ouran before (subbed). I think that song would go perfectly w/ it. but mine is just over a minute long (not counting the total of 5 secs for buffer in between clips). hopefully it'll suffice.
