Hetalia Cosplay Help

I'm planning on making a China cosplay if not for ASTL then other cons I plan on attending next year (2010) and I need help with just generally starting.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the military outfit (because...well...Russia told me to) and I need help with which material to use and how to sew it together (a sewing pattern or if it's by eye).

Please and thank you for helping me if I left any info out that will help you help me then don't hesitate from telling me. ^-^;;

I saw her at the con but I hardly talked to her, I think I only told her she was cute and that was it. I got a small list of things to check up on from friends but I'll ask her if I hit any glitches; thanks for giving me her deviant art so I can ask her. Loves! ^-^
