So I'm starting up an anime club at my school, and my friend is dead set on calling it the SOS Brigade. The only problem is that we have to come up with something legitimate sounding that SOS can stand for. It needs to make sense to other people (i.e. the school faculty) and needs to represent that we are an anime/Japanese club.
So far we have come up with the idea "Students Of"... Yeah it's not going too well. Can anybody help?

An Anime Club, mm? That's always fun! ^^ Since I get to run my school's Anime Club this year, I'm actually planning to host some type of state ( Chyeah right >_>;;; ) wide Anime Trivia competition or something (although that's still in the works... ...). So maybe we'll get that done sometime. C: Sorry for getting off topic, but I just wanted get that across. As for your club's name idea. Well... SOS is quite hard to put in an actual club name that actually fits with school and such. why don't you just call it your school's anime club, but have the members call it what they want? It'd be less restricting... but if you insist... oh dear, this will be hard. Have you considered actually using Japanese? watchout4snakes.com/CreativityTools/RandomWord/RandomWord.aspxThat site helps, too.

Sudents Of Some Brigade?
And really, any anime fan would know immediatly what the SOS means. That way, the true anime fans will come to the club and keep out the outsiders.

Thanks for all of the suggestions . We actually ended up being the (and this is a doozy): Society Of Study for the Bright, Resolute, Imaginative, Group of Anime Declaring Enthusiasts (SOS BRIGADE) Yeah, the school actually accepted this... I ended up thinking it up last night for half-an-hour since they wouldn't accept just plain old SOS Brigade. Now the year book is going to have to put our entire title in > The anime trivia sounds like a lot of fun :3. Once again, thanks for all of your guy's suggestions!

Dues would be a good idea. And be sure to use the dues. This year, our anime club has a HUGE amount of money... and I plan to use it all up for meaningful events. (:

Heh, that's pretty nice. Our super secret name is the See Our Sh*t Brigade . Anyone know any high-school appropriate animes that will appeal to boys? All of the guy animes that I like aren't suitable for school, and I can't force them to watch girl animes every week...(Except for K-On. It's just impossible to dislike that show )Only the first episode of the series has to be appropriate since that's all we'll show.
