you did?? Dx well I guess that's our own fault then because we figured no one would really be doing stuff like that at the time we were breakfast searching so we just went to the hotel restaurant and then went back to our room and ate some pretzels I think xD

I'm sorry to inform everyone, as I'm sorry to even have to say it myself.
Maid Cafe will not be returning for 2009 at Anime STL. The convention Center refuses to let us be there there fore we have no way to operate. I'm very sorry to anyone expecting us.

]: I'm real sorry Yongsoo, I'm pretty upset about it too and so is the rest of the cafe. I mean it is understandable, business wise but it doesn't make it feel any better. ><; Thanks for volunteering for that though in the first place. ^^

That's a shame. I was looking forward to lending a hand myself.

Well, this is just me throwing something out here since I hate seeing folks sad about the cancel, but maybe the maid cafe can be used as a fund-raiser or advertising event. Like a pre-con party at a park or someplace? Once again, just throwing an idea out here since I know folks enjoy this cafe.

I would love to do that, but I'm wondering if we'd get nearly as many customers. =/

I'm sorry to hear that guys but given that ASTL is being held in a convention center it doesn't really surprise me. Most convention centers have their own caterers and food service people and they very rarely like other food vendors to be in what they concider 'their territory'. I wonder if this is going to effect dealers who normally sell pocky and other Japanese snacks?
I do like the idea of the maid cafe as a fund raiser though. It still might be worth looking into or trying.

Yeah, just like the BCC. $5 for a box of pocky and $3 for a bottle of ramune. Nazis.
Bummer. D:

I was really hoping we could work something out with the Convention Center on this >.< It had taken negotiation to allow the Maid Cafe at the Viking, and the Anime St. Louis staff was hoping for that kind of good luck again this year. Alas!
At the next staff meeting, I'll try to bring up the suggestion of having a fundraising or advertising event involving the Cafe.
