I'm wondering about how to vocally prepare for a cross cosplay. Since I am female, I'm most concerned on how other females who cross cosplay handle their male cosplay voices. Do you try to imitate the voice actor? If so, how long do you prepare? I'm very curious because I'm highly considering cross cosplaying and would need to mimic Yuri Lowenthal. I've been repeating several lines from a show that i watch in which Yuri voices the main character in order to practice as much as I can (it's not the same character, but the one he voices in the particular game says very little "live").
Should I do research on youtube and watch cross cosplayer videos? Does anyone have any suggestions of links? I used to watch BlitzAceTidus' videos (in fact, she's the reason I learned about anime conventions and looked them up to see if there were any in Missouri).

Thank you very much! Since my internet isn't very fast, I only brought up the Boom Your Voice video, but it was very helpful.

I crossplay all the time, but I usually don't think about my voice... I cosplay Kaoru and he's got a "soft" voice (I guess that's the best word to describe it) and I'm fairly quiet so it's ok. The only time its ever worried about is during skits. I (and my twin in cosplay crime) do bind when we crossplay. In a non harming way.

Did you use a backbrace? Or what did you do?

Well, I think that the character (for what little he speaks), would be close to my voice. Or, at least within range of my normal tone. I'm surprised by how many crossplayers that do not bind their chests when in character. Even being rather small chested, I'm going to use binding (masking tape over a sports bra).
I have another cross cosplay question. I've watched the youtube video on how to apply make up to crosscosplay, and I wondered how often brown eyeshadow is used to shade the cheeks to mimic definition. I'd prefer not having to put eyeshadow on my cheeks if possible. Since my face is a little boney looking, I'm hoping that's enough.

Well I'm going as Edward Elric, and my voice is already kind of low so I don't really worry about that, and I watch a lot of FMA for his short rants if I need to use one.
