The only problems I had was the dealers which was crowded that me and my sister could barely get through and how I couldn't find some of the events other then those ASTL was awesome for my first con.

I had a lovely time, but I thought the rave needed some improvements. Moar lights, yesyes? No big complaints besides that. But that's not a big deal, I suppose.
I really liked the choice in convention center. But I wouldn't had been able to afford a room if it wasn't for me sharing the room. :3;

I'll put the TL;DR here: Kawa Kon was...like..10x better... I had very high expectation for ASTL, and most were a huge letdown. The ONLY thing better about ASTL was the hotel choice. That was an amazing hotel.
1: The rave: there was like..NOTHING to it at all. Just a like...an hour or so of some random techno beats. There was no anime music or chacha slides or w/e to it like there was supposed to be last year. Kawa Kon's rave was AMAZING! They had a fog machine and strobe lights and an amazing dj and a rapper! It also lasted until 3 am with a full room still.
2:The panels: what happened? There wer elike...2 panels I even knew what they even were. okay more like 4 but I was only interested in 2. The whose line is it anime was not nearly as good as Kawa Kon's was. Also the yaoi panel was amaazing....but still not as good as Kawa Kons. (not ripping here, just pointing out)
3: The map: where was it and what was on it!? I only saw like...1 panel room and it was only because I hunted down a staff member and they had to like..walk me half way there. >.< Kawa Kon has signs posted everywhere, I never once got lost or had to ask where what was.
4: The dealers: I got ripped off $3 by a vendor. I bought an action figure for $15 and I decided I wanted somethign different for my money, at the same dealer. So i go back and he tried to tell me I only paid $10 for it.....so afte rliek 5m of going back and forth we finaly settled on me giving up the doll for a $12 poster...../golfclap dealer guy...-.- (I am aware that this is not the con's fault)
5: The pre-reg line: wow...holy sh-.....what happened? 0.o It was like only 15 ft long but it took me an hour to get through it.
6: The guest: he was amazing, bbut they kept moving his time around. At first he was supposed to sign stuff at 2pm, but then after the waiting line got long enough, they told us eh was signing AFTER the closing ceremonies. I jjust left there con right there.
I give the con, like everyone else has, a D. It was a good con overall, but the expectation for it was waaaaaaaay higher than it made out to be. Maybe some better panels and a new rave dj. Or even a better schedule, everything good was pushed together then nothing good inbetween....let the hate mail fly in my inbox..>.>

I agree that the DJ should of played more anime music and dancing music remixes. Though please, do not compare Kawa-kon to Anime stl and vice versa. We aren't here to compare these two conventions, and we're rather not try and get each other riled up all over again about who is better, so please restrain from comparing Animestl and Kawakon against each other. There isn't any reason to, and both cons are completely seperate. Aswell as keep in mind we do not influence the prices of the dealers aswell. ^^

Like the rave thing, there wasn't enough to it. I'm not saying kawa Kon because of what happened last year, jsut that they're both in STL and both around the same time. Sorry, not meaning to offend anyone. T.T Oh and I did say that I wasn't blaming the con for the dealer thing, jsut a complaint vent.

The pre-registration line! That was like...the only thing that seriously bothered me. It was supposed to be the fast-lane, but people were moving through the regular registration line really quickly, while everyone in the pre-reg just stood there. :/
Other than that, amazing convention! I was really happy with the new choice in location! It was a really wonderful place. Plenty of room! <3

B+ right here, thank you very much. Incidentally, the map was on the reverse side of the schedule.

I was only bummed cause, wasn't the rave supposed to go to 2:30? I might be mistaken though... And I wish there were like, maybe black lights, or strobe lights or something...?

I have a few complaints.
There seemed to be a lot of empty time. I realize that there were a lot of panels but I think the spacing of them could be better. For example on Saturday between the Date Auction and the Masquerade almost every panel had to do with getting into the field of anime or manga professionally.
Pre registration took a long time. I was in line for at least an hour. While the other line took no time at all. Now this really was not horrible because we still got it cheaper it was still kind of upsetting. There were two people working the pre register line but only one of them did anything. The other person just sat there and didn’t even answer questions. If only one person is going to do the work then only have one person back there.
I had no idea who was staff, volunteers, or just other con goers. I really would have liked to see the staff and volunteers to have more noticeable signs of what they were. The map on the schedule was way too small. I could not tell where anything was. It took me forever to find the artist alley, even longer to find the dealers room, and an entire day to find the anime viewing room.
I really didn’t like the location. I hated the parking. On Saturday it took me and hour to find a place to park. I hated that food couldn’t be brought in. The food was overpriced and I thought of leaving to eat but then I would have all of the parking trouble once again. And I was really upset when I found there was no pocky in the dealer’s room. I usually spend a lot of money on snacks and drinks and this is one of my favorite things. Getting to try different and new snacks but not this time.
The guy that announced the entries at the masquerade made so many mistakes. Ok, that is funny to a point but when a person at an anime con thinks that Sora is Sara it is no longer funny.
I loved this con last year. The place was too small but it was wonderful. This year there were some bad down falls. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst either. I had lots of fun still. Overall I give this year's con a B-

i loved this year i only had a few problems
one the dealers room- this isnt really a big complaint but there were only like three tables that had really great stuff and to me (this is y its not big its only a complaint on my personal wants) but the rest sucked last year every table had a few good stuff
two again not a big one cuz its just me- but there were a lack of events i personally do not like panels there needs to be less panels and more events
the rave- one i hated that there was only 1 secondly it was like a real rave it was all techno i like techno but when its constant it all sounds the same it next year i really hope the rave is like last year it had all types of music and lights at the top not just glow sticks
other than that i loved it the location rocked and so did the voice actors great job this year!

I have a few complaints. There were two people working the pre register line but only one of them did anything. The other person just sat there and didn’t even answer questions. If only one person is going to do the work then only have one person back there. - That person was probablly me.. and I was volunteering and doing the work they told me to do... I was making all the badges YOU were buying... and I was doing other things they told me to do... The lady that was doing the actual giving of the badges was a staff member... TOTALLY different... I just didn't talk or handle the people for that was what the lady wanted me to do, and it was like my 1st day and I had no idea where things where, or what the was to do, or anything like that... I did what I was supposed to... just because you are mad that the pre-reg line was taking "forever"... don't be a douche. The line wasn't even that long compaired to some of the cons I have been to... I was so damned tired of all the losers complaining about the "long" line by the end of my volunteering shift.... The rave ended early b/c the storm... the roads where so damned bad people where driving off into ditches and stuff... they wanted everybody to SAFELY get home before the snow and road conditions got worse. It was an AMAZING rave though.. it was a rave.. not one of those lame dances where the electric slide was played along with 100 other wedding songs... The music had an amazing, danceable beat, high energy, and it was all around great. If anybody wanted more anime based music.. thats what the formal dance was for... The dealers room was WAY too small... that's true... it was hard to move in there, let alone see what the deals had. The masquerade was a joke this year... with the guy messing up all the time, and the participants getting on stage for maybe a average of 5 seconds each... it was just terrible. oh, and a ton of panels where canceled or moved without notice, or so much as a sign... wtf was up with that?

My friend and I didn't really feel the -beat- with the rave. The music was too slow.
I agree that the Pre-Reg line was slow but after reading Zayane's post I understand why. I asked my friend to volunteer to help her- she fits the requirements that Zayane needs to help run reg.
The Masq room was small. At least have an overflow room. D: I was in the Masq and still I missed it because the audience portion was full.
More panels would be nice, yes. :3
I agree about there being an event to have newcomers/people coming alone to meet people. Obviously it's not the staff's fault that some of their attendants ended up alone but it would make their experience more enjoyable and it's always great to meet new friends.

Now here's where I'm going to ask the question, and it's not knocking you at all atticcat, you were just doing your job, it's not your fault.
Why weren't the badges all made and in a box by Wednesday night?
It occurs to me that if people prereg, they're coming to pick up a badge. And if they're coming to pick up a badge, it should, you know, be ready. Shoot, there really shouldn't be any badges being made at all, even the on-site registration should already be in plastic.
Fix that and you probably remove half the work at registration.
