The Gateway Center's website has their policies listed, and one was "All catering at Gateway Center is conducted through our exclusive vendor, Eurest Dining Services. No outside food or beverage is permitted to be brought onto the premises. "
So, my question is this: is there going to be drinks sold elsewhere than by the convention? I understand we aren't allowed to, say, bring in water bottles. But, perhaps, would we be allowed to purchase them from a vendor during the con? Or, would it only be through this Eurest Dining Services (which the name suggests that it's only available in the evenings)?
Although, I am only going to be able to attend on Saturday, I am curious to know how this will work so I have it in mind for the 24th. Thank you for your time!

The Gateway Center has a concession booth or two within it. We will have water stations set up through-out the event as well. Also, the vendors are allowed to sell novelty food items, such as pocky and ramune. Finally, there are various restaurants close to the venue as well.

Thank you very much, that information definitely puts my worries to rest. Much appreciated! It's nice to know there are several options on site as well as off.

There is a. . . Quedoba Golden Corral (Buffet style. Big portions) White Castle Ponderosa Steak N' Shake Bob Evan's Tuesday's Dairy Queen Subway (In the Walmart) Long John Silver's Ravanelli's (Italian restaurant I used to bake at ) And that's all I can think of for around the area the con is at! Most of those are within walking distance. maps.google.com/maps?near=1+Gateway+Drive,+Collinsville,+IL+62234-6107+(Gateway+Center)&geocode=CV9wiROorBIsFdU6TgId7HGi-iGFj2MruV6pow&q=restaurant&f=l&dq=gateway+center,+loc:+collinsville,+il&sll=38.681301,-90.0173&sspn=0.024144,0.072055&ie=UTF8&ll=38.680903,-90.014956&spn=0.012848,0.033023&t=h&z=16

To get to the other places you would have to drive a teeny bit.

I'm glad you asked that question because I never thought of it, and it is interesting to know (as well as very helpful)!

If you've got the money, I've always enjoyed Ponderosa, at least the one there (since I live in close proximity to all these places)

Bandana's BBQ is always an amazing place to eat, and it isn't far at all from the Gateway Center.

The Pizza Hut has been a haunt for staff for meetings the last couple times we've gone out there, and it's a car ride away. Off of the top of my head, there's about 6 - 7 places that are a walk/very short drive away. The Gateway Fun Center, right across the road, also sells small food items like nachos and so forth. And, as mentioned by doublej, there will be food/drink booths inside the con center and all the pocky/ramune/MILK TEA you could ever want.
Best of luck, and if you need information at the con, never hesitate to ask the staff!
Regards, The Security Guy
