Okay, so I'm feeling a little self-conscious about my cosplay.
Due to lack of money, I was unable to make the coat out of real material, so I'm using a red bathrobe and sewing the insignia on the back.
Would this possibly be criticized as "not cosplay?"
I mean, I know it seems ridiculous, but this is my first convention, and I didn't want to cheat by just cosplaying as L.

Heh The robe sounds like a good idea, I hope that it's not like the fuzzy material.. Anyways, I would'nt be worried.

You could always just not have the coat. I've seen it before, and at Kawa Kon I had the coat but it was so freaking hot so I just slung it over my shoulder.

I sling the jackets/coats over my shoulder too and just do interesting poses. As long as you have all the other parts of the cosplay it should be okay, espeically since Edward is such a well recognized character.
