i would prefer there to be a ban on the "free hugs" / "glomp me" signs. first of all, they're retarded. second of all, they're needy. thirdly, yeah, some of the people were pushy. i got signs shoved in my face like 3 times. when i said no, they either looked hurt or would ask why not...what do you mean why not? i don't know you, i don't want you touching me. get the f--- away from me. find a better way to try and make friends.

I for one didn't have really any problems with the staff or any of the situations their. Other than the little girls who were performing in there competition? while we were there, (there were a lot of rude comments from them that I heard. But, we can't control them.) The tornado problem was handled well by everyone, and I'm glad to see we're all fine.
The one problem that came up, was like people had already said, the physical contacts was a bit to much this year. I got a few awkwardly long hugs and someone kissed me near my mouth when they just asked for a hug >.<

The Convention was a blast. I didn't see any problems. But Saturday I accidentally walked into the Dealers room while it was closed, the doors were open but I guess it was because of the tornado warning. AWESOME JOB GUYS!

These two. While I don't think the "Hug/Glomp Me" signs should be banned, I think people should be respectful. Maybe i don't wanan hug, you know? No offense, but I just don't want one. Now, fist pumps and the ghetto handshakes are cool. Not htat much contact but coming at me with a hug and I don't even know you scares me. Sure, it makes me happy but at hte same time, I don't like being that clsoe to people I just met. The kissing thing, that only happen to me once when I was doing the ghetto handshake (the one you high five and you do a quick reach-around the shoulders to pat the back) with this girl. Like right in the middle of the ghetto hug/handshake, I just heard "becareful, she kisses" and I just got kiss on the cheek. Personally, I didn't have an issue with that, a little unwanted, but still, someone could had gotten upset by that crap. Other than that, this was a great con.

I would like to suggest that next year there be more difference between adult and underage badges. At first glance they look really alike, and I don't like the implications of that... I want my little sister very clearly marked as underage -> away from bad stuff! So maybe they could be different colors or something I'm going to have to agree with this. Also, it makes it easier to hang out with your own age grouping too or at least more appropriate anyway.

Hi, I went as Soi Fon from bleach on Sat. I wore a pink collar and leash. I got a bunch of Bleach charaters to do carmelldansen. I also got them to do several photoshoots. I saw Urahara, Ichigo (my boyfriend was the best one), Byugya, grimmjow, adult nell, etc.

Also, the guy who molested my sister at Archon a few years back was there, and I heard he'd been banned from the con. It definitely put me and my friends on edge the whole time. If that ever happens to you or anyone at a con again, do not hesitate to let staff know so they can take care of it and get that person kicked out. People like that do NOT need to be at a con. Actually, let's go further on that one. If that happens, you must talk to staff about it immediately. Waiting to post about it on the forum is next to useless, because once the weekend is over, nothing can really be done. This goes for any kind of harassment: sexual, physical, or otherwise.

I liked the convention overall. But, my big problem was how the underage badges and the adult badges looked so similar. According to the Registration section of the Anime STL website (http://animestl.net/reg.html), I quote: "The color coordinated system of red and green is to keep age groups together." ???I came into the convention with this knowledge in mind, but was shocked to learn the hard way that the badges, in fact, had nearly equal amounts of red and green on them. To make matters worse, I nearly went home with a 16 year old girl until my room-mate closely inspected her badge and pointed out to me that I was about to make a career-ruining move. (Some of these girls look older than they really are!) It was quite ironic because later in the night I returned the favor for him when the girl he was trying to pick up turned out to be 17. And why did the Dance Dance Revolution machine have to get AIDS and die? I was looking forward to tripping the light fantastic. And for the record, not only am I in favor of the proliferation of "hug me/glomp me" signs, I wish there were more.

Wow, I didn' t know people did that at conventions, but I guess I need to realize that there are people like that in the world. I come from Southern Illinois and we usually don't have to deal with things like that.

And Now a word from the other side of the Convention Hall:
Being a long time anime enthusiast, I was d**n happy to see a Con sharing the convention center. However, there was just too many reveling non-conformists that needed to be policed. On Friday, we had a pair of crossdressers wander into the girls dressing room to have a looksee...fortunately; for them, the dads generally only show up on Saturday for prop duty. Despite their claims otherwise, transvestites are not women, and should not use the girls restroom. "Free Hugs"?, not from our pre-teen daughters, Thanks. The guy taking pictures every time the girls restroom opened, feel fortunate that security reached you before I did. We may have seemed a little short with you, but imagine the things that bothered you; then imagine if it was happening around your kids.
The mock martial artists.....sigh, I have ten year old students that could take you apart. If you have an interest, explore the interest, don't pretend. Frankly, you looked like noobs.
The girl that flashed my ten year old son....he says ,Thanks!
The costumes were great, and 90% of the Con attendees were great, that remaining 10% need to be policed better. Take it from someone from the other side, It could have gotten very ugly.

Most of them wore so much make up you couldn't tell the difference between a 10 year old and an aging drag queen. Edit: Dx And the con was waaay too far away! Anime ST. LOUIS people!!

[Au contraire, the "crossdressers" could have been some of the people from the dance competition. Most of them wore so much make up you couldn't tell the difference between a 10 year old and an aging drag queen. So true, Kadaj. I saw one dance girl (who looked no older than 9 years old) walk by with so much make up and such a skimpy outfit that looked like she just came from a strip club One of the many reasons I quit being a dancer. But to Prostitotdad, I understand some of your complaints such as the flashing and the guys sneaking into the girls dressing room (that is in NO way acceptable), but you have to understand anime conventions before you post things like this. Like... 1.) Your daughter could just say no thanks and walk away from the people with "Free Hugs" signs. I did and they didn't bother me again 2.) About the martial arts, have you ever thought that the people were just messing around and having fun? It's an anime convention, not a martial arts tournament XD Also, I know some cosplayers were not comfortable around the dancers (not everyone likes seeing a 5 year old in a crop top and booty shorts), so the feeling was mutual. All in all, the things that went wrong are basically things that could happen in everyday life (minus the crazy hair and costumes) *deep breath* Okay, rant over

Okay, I'm late, but I haven't had a chance to post till now.
I thought the con was great, though I would have prefferred it if it was a little closer. 30 minutes each way, for 3 days, kinda hard on the gas tank.
The only other things were beyond anyobnes control. But, the tornado did make for a great story to tell about the con.
Oh and to prostitotdad, Don't pin everything on us. On friday night, me and my friends were heading towards the dealers, room and the seocnd we entered the lobby area we got mobbed by like 8 girls asking to take pictures with us. We were just walking by, and they came up to us. We were okay with it, Hell, most of us like the attention and photo-ops. I agree that what happened was totally inappropriate, but don't look at us all like that. Even before that incidient we were getting glared at because of out costumes. At we weren't (most of us at least) walking around half naked. FYI-some of us do actually know martial arts, so watch what you say. And have you no sense of fun or imagination? Just cause I cosplayed as a Sweeper(Bounty Hunter) doesn't mean I have interest in being one. I just think that the character was cool.
Artists alley seemed a bit scant on the drawing artists. Not that it stopped me form ordering commissions. And I understand, you have to book, who comes to you. It was just something that I noted. And the dealers room seemed a bit cramped. I couldn't stay in there too long or my claustrophobia started to kick in.
There was kind of a lack of interesting panels, at least for me. So I was usually just walking around with friends. I just wish there has been more interesting panels to attend.
I think that I've addressed everything. All in all, GREAT CON. Aside from minor issues, it was great.
