There was kind of a lack of interesting panels, at least for me. So I was usually just walking around with friends. I just wish there has been more interesting panels to attend. :3 What kind of panels would you have liked to see? If it's something I'm knowledgeable of I may run it next year! I love running panels! Actually, I would also suggest to those who were disappointed in lack of certain panels (like some people were sad there wasn't a Yaoi Panel) to MAKE it happen. I was mad there wasn't a yuri panel one year and what I did about it was I ran it myself the next year. :3 We can't just depend on the staff to come up with stuff for us to do- we also have to help out. One of the best ways to do this is panels because you can openly sign up for them.

^^ I get stage fright too but panels I don't. It's really relaxed. You can always do it with friends to make it less scary!

I know that, but i dont have enough confidence in my public speaking. Point is if anyone else is into Samurai Deeper Kyo they should have a panel.

So this was my second time at ASTL and I have to say, it's my favorite con. I've been to two other, pretty big, conventions, AWA and MTAC, but the atmosphere at ASTL is the best.
I personally like the 'hug me' signs. It took some getting used to my first con, but now I hug every random stranger that asks. I think it adds to the camaraderie and overall feelings of acceptance, which is why some people go to cons. I've never been groped before though. A word to the wise, 'hug me' signs have been banned at other conventions. Probably because of harassment issues. So if you are one of those people causing those issues, cut it out and don't ruin it for the rest of us.
The cosplay contest: I loved the judges this year. Love. them. It didn't hurt that they gave me an award, but as a seamstress, I appreciated their experience and the face that they actually touched my costume and looked at my work. The contest as a whole, didn't seem to be as organised as last year. They were still lining us up as others were on stage. I don't know if this was due to the space that we had, or if there was some other issue. They had numbers for the tables like last year, but we didn't use them. I don't know what the problem was, but they managed to pull it off pretty well in the end. I love the cosplay repair station, I wonder if it could be made available to everyone, maybe keep some stuff behind registration or information. There's nothing worse than when your cosplay you've been working on all year malfunctions and you have no way of fixing it.
Panels: I wish there were more of them. One thing that I noticed is that almost all the panels I went to at least, were run by staff members. Very busy staff members that probably don't need to be running a couple panels in addition to their other duties. So thank you staff. But I really do think that there needs to be more panels. And fan panels are fine. So anyone else that feels like I do, let's step up. Let's offer to run panels next year. We may not do all that well, but it's a step in the right direction.
Other stuff: I liked that you had to go through Artist's Ally to get to the Dealer's room as well. I also wish that the Dealer's room was bigger. I know you have to work with the space that you have, but it really would be nice if the Dealer's room wasn't so cramped. Umm, so I noticed later that even though I paid for a weekend badge, I was given a Friday badge. It didn't really matter, no one noticed, but yeah, maybe the registration people should have been paying a little more attention ^_^;

Overall a pretty kickbutt con just that.
-Do we always have to share the Con center with completely different type of folk?(gun shows, weddings, dancers?)
-Rave room to small
-Couple thingz handled pretty lame but I won't waste any1's time since it will fall on deaf ears =x

Overall a pretty kickbutt con just that. -Do we always have to share the Con center with completely different type of folk?(gun shows, weddings, dancers?) -Rave room to small -yes. the convention center is big enough for all of us, why shouldn't the center be allowed to maximize their profits? the anime conventions don't have the funding to rent out the entire convention center for a weekend. we can all learn to get along -i thought the rave room was a pretty good size. but i wasn't on the dance floor i guess it would have been nicer to move the curtains back a bit (there was another 1/3 of the room back there), but that would have been a HUGE pain in the ass to do since they were so tall and stuff. that part of the room was reserved for the masquerade. also, from what i saw on the stage, there was plenty of empty space to the left (while facing the stage) that no one really took advantage of. the front of the stage will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS be crowded. there is nothing you can do about that.

I just have a couple of things that were bugging me during the convention. I was only able to attend on Saturday so my critiques are limited to just that one day.
-The badges were too similar between the age groups. I'm over 18 and would have liked to see a greater difference in the badges between the two age groups. I had to walk around for most of the time without my glasses on and couldn't tell the difference between the two from any reasonable distance, even with them it was hard. I think that if they were like Red and Blue mostly that could help out a lot.
-I had a small complaint with the Pedo-Bear guy from Saturday. In the cosplay rules they said that if you dress as Pedo-Bear or anything from 4-chan you wouldn't get a discount or something similar, I took this into meaning 4-chan costumes would be banned and anyone waring it would be asked to change. I'm thinking that I read that rule wrong but given what else was going on during the convention I still think that it shouldn't have been worn the the staff should have done something about it.
-I understand that room was tight at the convention so the fact that we had to use the hotel as spare room wasn't that big of a problem. What I wanted to say was that it was poorly documented that that area was being used. I didn't know that we were also in the hotel till late Saturday, and that the table-top games were there, didn't find that out till after the last "group" was going and there would be no more games that night. If we do have to do split areas again I think that better instructions on the map would be much better.
-This last one is more of a personal thing then against the Con in general. I DO NOT like the swords that Sleeping Samurai was using and selling. I actually did do foam sword fighting as was part of Belagarth fighting realm for a little while. We used swords with much more padding then the Sleeping Samurai's were using, we got most of our swords from Edhellen Armoury if you want a reference. Usually I wouldn't care but one of my friends have had several knee surgeries due to getting hit with a poorly padded sword. Also the fact that people were walking around with swords and sheath knives that they bought from the dealers room also worried me.
Besides these points I really did enjoy the con. I hope it keeps getting bigger and better as the years go on.

I liked the con overall, but the people that ran the panels sometimes went over their time limit, leaving the people after them who actually cared about making sure they dismissed on time have less time to do their panel.

Well i have some Critques Cons 1) i actually do agree with Crack roxas about the artist alley except i like to add the artist alley was far to cramped like i dont know if it was the set up or what but i felt sqeeshed trying to fight my way from the opening door to dealers room
2) the security im not going to lie there times during that con i lent my friend my badge and just walked around freely with out one.
Then there were so many disputes over random things the security wasnt there to break up just because there was very little of it .
3)PedoBear near the kids
Pros: Everything else was pretty well rounded 1. i liked the guest, (i had some issues with the venue but thats a personal problem)
2.The panels were good
3. I will argue the Game Room there is much better then acens

Between the tornado and the prosti-tot dancers, their isn't to much that one can say you didn't handle well. There was no glaring examples of "oh the Staff really f'd up on this" that I can think of. I love that word "prosti-tots" XDD But yeah everything was great. Just two things... 1.) one thing was that when I was picking up my badge, it was kinda messy. The person getting my badge looked kinda confused about what they were doing. 2.) I agree with the panel thing. Anyone who was running a panel please watch your time. I was standing in the hallway for 10 minutes waiting for the panel I wanted to go to because the people ahead of them took too much time. But I'm really glad you guys handled the tornado so well I also was glad to hear the rule about yelling "I lost the game!". That gets really old, really fast -__-;; on the person getting your badge, that was most likely me getting it. im sorry, that was my first time volunteering and i had never done that before. XD

A lot of times volunteers are getting the badges. When you're only given a quick run through of how things work it can get a little messy at times. Next year hopefully we won't have the problem, and hopefully we can make it happen with distinct colored name badges that vary between minor and adult. XD
