I am working to make most all of my anime version Maka cosplay for next April, and I have a question about the materials I will be using on her boots. That question, as the title asks, is this: would mixing pleather and faux leather be okay? I can't seem to find white faux leather to match the black, and I already have an excess of the white pleather from a previous project. Also, I don't want to make her boots entirely of pleather material because her boots don't appear that shiny in the anime. Plus, I prefer working with the slightly-heavier faux leather. But, is it a faux pas to mix these two types? Thanks for the imput!

hmm, I thought pleather was faux leather... but I think it should be ok as long there isn't much of a difference between color shades and shininess and all other stuff...

You know, it really should be called pleather, but I always think shiny pvc when I hear "pleather." So, that's why I use two different terms. Well, the main part of the boot is matte, black pleather. But, the straps that come up from the shoe sole to wrap around the toe, top of the foot, and heels (as well as belt straps at the top of the boot) are white. The only white I have and/or can find is the shiny pvc pleather.
Although it will look funky, I will probably end up using the shiny, white pleather coupled with the matte black. It will all depend on how much time it takes me to finish the skirt, shirt, duster, wig, and gloves. ^^;
