Hello! I've decided to, in addition to Big Sister, take up another cosplay! Now, I may or may not be attending ASTL this year since I want to go to ACEN..but if enough people want to see this character and if I even finish it in time...I might, haha.
I'm going to be cosplaying as Jackle from NiGHTS Into Dreams, based on a redesign created by Sa-chan04 on DeviantArt:
I have a few concerns and questions on how to go about a few things with this so...hopefully you guys can help me out here!
Does anyone have any recommendations for how to do the detail designs on the cape? I really don't want to use fabric paint, because that has a tendency to flake and wear out over time--I want these details to last if I'm going to put a lot of time into making them!
Some of the minor details I know I can hand sew...but for the larger areas-- being somewhat new to sewing on my own-- I have no idea how to make those, and make them look decent. I was thinking using a form of iron on paper where I can make the design on the computer and do it that way, but I have NO knowledge in that, or if it would even work or turn out. This is my major concern--everything else I'm addressing here is more uncertainty rather than "WHAT DO I DO?"
Also, for the hat...
I myself was thinking of using a modification of Finn's Hat from Adventure time ( frederatorblogs.com/adventure_time/2010/03/24/finns-hat-is-awesomeeeee/ ) and using an appropriate material, but I don't know if that would work out very well. (I think my major concern is the horns, and making those look decent and...not lopsided, haha.) Also, specific fabric recommendations, maybe?
(It should also be noted I intend to have my hair exposed as opposed to being stuffed up in the hat for the sake of not looking terrible--I've noticed it's VERY hard to look decent in any cosplay from Nights if you decide to go that route. I'll also be making the boots taller and more feminine instead of...that, so...I have every intention of making sure this cosplay doesn't end up looking bontis. )
And make-up! Any brand recommendations for black body and/or face paint? NO GREASE BASED. It comes off too easily, doesn't work, and makes you look like a sweaty pig.
So yeah...if anyone can help me out with this, wants to flash me some warning signs on things to look out for, please do! This is my first major sewing project by myself, so any advice offered helps!
