I also posted this in the dealer room section but I was told the question would be answered faster here, so...
Question:
Is it possible to cut hair as a dealer? I wouldn't be doing it, but the guy who cuts my hair is a friend and he thought it'd be a cool idea. People who are looking for a professional to cut hair right (instead of trusting someone from just a walk in place) in a certain style. Anime, Videogames, Jrock. He's willing to cut whatever the person wants, just... it has to be in certain reason. So like... no cloud hair cuts. (how would one do that with real hair? >> without a bunch of gel anyways..)
He's got license to cut hair in 3 states, here, illinois, and California and he used to work out in hollywood cutting those far out hair cuts.
He also was thinking just spray in hair color, not permanent, or even temporary really. Just that stuff that goes away when you wash your hair...
But yeah. I don't even know if this can be done as a dealer? Thus why Im asking now. o=

Interesting question. I have never seen a barber as a dealer at a convention. For sanitary reasons I doubt it would be possible, considering the hair would be all over the floor and I don't think a dealer's room would be the safest environment for that.

We'd take care of the hair mess. Laying down stuff on the floor (Plastic? I dunno, It'd be something though) to catch the hair. We wouldn't leave a mess, no no. >w<
I agree about the dealer room not being the best place for it though.

I think this would probably get us in trouble with some parents. We couldn't control if a person were to get a haircut at our con, but if that person acts without parental consent, you can bet we'll be ones taking the blame. I also agree that sanitation could become an issue. But most of all the Dealer's Room isn't very well suited for that sort of thing. Smells from any spray-in product (or pretty much any hair product at all) will carry and could become a big nuisance to other Dealers and attendees.
And given the percentage of people that come to con in costume with wigs or their hair already done, a hair stylist Dealer probably wouldn't do enough business to warrant paying for the table.
We can still bring it up at a meeting, but my guess would be that it's not the best idea.
Now if that hair stylist were selling professionally styled wigs, I'd be all over the idea xD

Like I said in that thread too. Styling would be more appropriate.

If it were my convention, I'd probably say no for the reasons stated. Chemicals can be an ugly thing. And I'd hate it if I were walking around the dealer's room and suddenly got sprayed with loose spritz of hair spray or other styling product, especially if I was cosplaying. I think it might be better suited as a demonstration in a panel, with people who are signed up for the task ahead of time. And then maybe people who are interested could make individual appointments or something.
