ive heard that two years ago at the marriott it was bad cuz there was a wedding and a barmitzfa (sp?) and they were quote un-quote "ignorant to the con goers such as people from the other events insulting con goers and also things like the wedding not having enough chairs so they stole them from vic's pannel and i heard that events were canceled because of it these are all things ive heard and i know not all of them are controllable by the con chairs but i heard that theres other events going on at the convention center on the same dates of the con and when the normal people treat us anime fans like that i seriously feel like i dont know how to describe it but i think discriminated against is the correct term so i was wondering will that be a problem next year?

Personally, I highly doubt that. What happened then was that the hotel double booked over us when we had reserved spacing. The hotel had never held an event like ours before as well. In the end, it all worked out considering that was our first year as a 3 day convention.
Since they're (I'm only volunteering this year, I just like sounding important, hah) having it at a convention center, it should be normal to have other events along side ours. I mean, I've seen/heard stories of proms and biker conventions being held in the same place and time as anime conventions (ie, my first A-cen). I'm not answering for the staff, just saying my thoughts.

I really disliked the wedding goers. They were rude to us.

In 2007 when we held Anime St. Louis at the Marriott, there was a wedding and a Bar Mitzvah on the Saturday of the Convention. The hotel had come under new management a couple months before the convention and originally tried to void it all together and move Anime St. Louis to another hotel. We were originally supposed to have the rooms where the wedding and Bar Mistvah were held, but obviously the hotel broke their contract.
The convention was still a huge success, just very crowded. There was no discrimination by other guests of the hotel from what I heard. The wedding party actually wanted their wedding during the anime convention, as they were all huge anime fans.
The convention center will have other events the same weekend as us, but it won't be getting in the way of anything.
