Was there a Gundam-based panel last year? I know at ACen they have one and it was one of the panels I enjoyed the most. If there are no plans for one, I was thinking of attempting it.

I really hate to be the only reply to my own topic, but is there really nobody interested in Gundam in St. Louis? Well, I guess I know for sure now that I have to do the panel, if for nothing other than to try to raise interest.

I'd definitely go to a Gundam panel if there is one. I've only seen Wing in full, but my boyfriend's obsessed with the UC series so I'm currently watching Zeta to see if I like it or not.
I really hope you end up doing this panel!

Out of curiosity, is this panel going to happen? I ask because since my last reply, I've spent way too much time watching as much Gundam as possible. I don't want to be the only obsessed fan at ASTL.
I'd help out, but I honestly don't think I've seen enough to contribute, even by the end of March.

Greetings! According to our current panel schedule, there's a panel called Gundam Rising. What it consists of though, I'm not sure.

Yep, I decided to do the panel, "Gundam Rising." It's just going to be an overview of the Gundam franchise's history with some various little fun things thrown in. If you have any ideas or contributions that you think could make the panel better please feel free to suggest. As of now it will likely be divided into a few parts. The panel will open with some sort of video introduction, with a presentation afterwards that discusses the history of Gundam, and the individual series'. Following that, a short question and answer session and some trivia (possibly with a prize to give away). I got the idea from "The Gundam Experience" panel which is held at Anime Central and I think it's a really great panel. It really helps to get people into Gundam and it's certainly always fun for people who already do enjoy Gundam to come and be in the company of similar folks. Oh yeah, and I've got a pretty cool costume planned!

If it's a Gundam costume, then I'll be happy to know that I won't be the only Gundam cosplayer at Anime St. Louis. XD I'd love to suggest things but I'm afraid I haven't seen enough of Gundam. I've seen the original, the original and Zeta movies, Zeta, and Gundam Wing in full. I'm currently working on ZZ and Gundam 00, as well as 0080 and 0083. I'm sure you've probably seen much more Gundam than I have. :3 I really like the format though, especially with the history of Gundam. I wonder if many attendees are only familiar with Wing/Seed/00 because they've been broadcasted over here and have done well, so an overview of the history seems like a great idea! I also like having some sort of trivia. But yeah, definitely touching upon the history, the differences between all the universes, and what makes each series unique should be included.

Be prepared Saturday night at 5PM for Gundam Rising! I'll be going over the history of the Gundam franchise, as well as playing some classic clips and funny fan-clips. To close out the panel we'll be having a "Dub Your Own Gundam Scene" where you get to be the voice actor in a classic Gundam scene. The best voice actor will be the new proud owner of a new Gundam model kit, so practice that Amuro voice! I'll see you there. Char Aznable, heading out!

Thanks to everyone who showed up and made the first Gundam Rising @ Anime St. Louis a success. I'll look forward to seeing you all next year! Comments and feedback on how we can improve the panel for next year are definitely appreciated if you were there.
Also, a special thanks to the pretty girl who went out of her way to snag a projector for us to use. Couldn't leave that out, the panel would have really sucked without a projector. Char Aznable, heading out!

I'm really sad I had to miss this! I had to leave early on Saturday and thus couldn't stay for a 5 PM panel. I'm glad it went over well, though. I'll have to go to the one at ACen I suppose.
I'm really curious as to how "Dub your own Gundam scene" went over. That sounds hilarious.

Heh heh, it went well. The guy who came up and did it actually did a really good job.
The scene that he did was the famous Brightslap scene when Bright slaps the crap out of Amuro. He voiced Amuro.

Haha, that scene is hilarious, even without dubbing. Now I'm really sad that I missed it!
