Otay. I'll be doing registration again this year, and I always like to have a Dos and don'ts section. Haven't been deemed a staffy because I wanted to be a normy for a while so SMALL HINT to give me a staff title now so people don't blow this list off Saankyu~
DO: Write clearly. If you're afraid your hand writting sucks, don't be afraid to write in ALL CAPS. Sometimes that is more helpful as telling the letters apart make it easier.
DON'T: Provide fake information. I understand in your new found anime life you want to be called your alias. But for the sake of safety and information for filing, please use your LEGAL first, middle (optional), and last name. If you have legally gotten a fake name, then you've gotten me. .___. Either way, for those who haven't gotten a fake name there is a section for your alias and what not, but DO NOT give it for your first and last name.
DO: Understand registration doesn't get processed as soon as you send it. There is about a three week period before registrations are "completely" processed, I.E checks cashed. So keep your accounts full as forms and checks exchange hands now instead of ONE person. Phew~
DON'T: freak out at above. I'm sure some one will panic like "but what if the period is between a price increase? Does that mean I'll have to pay the extra?" No way~! Postal mail is time stamped so I'll know that it happened before the change, as well as most checks you should write should be dated. Dun worry, I got your back.
DO: Keep records. There will be confirmation emails sent. If you're nervous that a check may have been lost (sometimes it happens, bear with conventions T_T) print out the confirmation email to show that you were replied to. A screen shot or a direct print will be fine. Be ready to supply information if something like this were to happen.
DON'T: hesitate to ask questions. Asking questions can cut your time in half, even if you think it's a repetative question, be sure to ask it. I don't get angry, I'm always glad to help :3
DO: be aware of all of your information. For pre-registration, I usually ask a piece of information on your form to be sure it's you before I just give the badge away. It is to avoid "Same names" from getting your badge. Always keep in mind the name you registered with, your email, phone number and anything in between. I'm not trying to make it harder for you, I want everyone to walk away from registration confident they have gotten the CORRECT badge.
That is about it. If there is anything else I will amend this post. But for the most part, I will try and make registration as easy, comfortable as possible. :3
