No problem even if my reply was a counter point.

Hopefully I won't get fired for participating this year...If anything, I'll just be silent at home and school and try to be mostly silent at work. Stupid homophobic coworkers. >_<

Put a reminder for it this year then? You mean it didn't happen yet? The website for it said in 2009 it's on April 17th.

At a publishing company. It's not as bad (acceptance-wise) as this accounting firm I used to work for, but most offices are pretty conformist. Even though there are laws against firing people based on preference, I don't doubt that they'd make up a reason to fire me if they found out I was gay.

That does suck if they'd just find a reason.

I did this last year because my guard friends (which had two lesbians and a gay) told me to participate. After being around them for a season of guard i learned what they have to go through and went from being neutral to being totally acceptant and wanting to help them.
when we were silent they handed out a beautiful poem which i cant' find now and stickers to show everyone what they were doing. After a while we managed to get some others to join the cause. Others just shook their heads...but i think it really is a message to people.

Aww, too bad you can't find the poem. I'd like to hear it.

yeah....
I dunno how many of you are "homosexual"/"bi" but I'm bi, and the lables, I think, are really just a category if not used in the context of an insult (like race). I understand the idea of getting rid of the lables, but I think it mi--ght be too late for that (kainda like how, sadly, we can't seem to remove the N-word.....I really find that word offensive....and I'm not "Black")
I participated in the day of silence last year, and all my friends were like "AHHH!!!! You're not talking!!!"--It kainda makes people think--if the hate crimes were to suddenly and randomly escalate, homosexuals/bisexuals/sympathizers could be hurt/killed, how many voices would you not hear? Who would be gone that you would miss?--everyone that's silent on that day, that's who.
And for all the volume someone can belt out, ranting and raving, yelling negative comments about others, if they're confronted by a sea of silent people ignoring them, and one by one the loud people start to understand and become quiet....until the last loudmouth realizes they're alone, and no one is listening.....
Martin Luther King had quiet protests--turn the other cheek and don't back down

I won't be participating- I would love to but I'm actually going to be in a Drag Show on this day. XD The show is towards this event anyway so I'm representing in some way.
