I've read the books and really loved them... and I laugh at all the insults people have about them and why they think it's retarded, because in reality, even though the books were good, a sparkling vampire really is funny to think about xD I don't compare my bf to Edward, because Edward will never exist and no man will ever be perfect and not everyone is going to find that perfect someone for themselves. but really, I can't believe some people are this crazy about a book... that really is really scary to think about. All the Twilight fans that I know aren't this crazy. They will, for the most part, listen to and accept opinions about the book with maybe something as simple as a bop on the head. But that's it. Nothing more. I'm truly thankful for that. I wouldn't want myself or my friends being assaulted over their opinion for something that will never be real lol you know me as a head bopper ^^. geez the things people do....fandom is a scary thing.....now...my friends know i can be obsessive but who does that D: seriously!?

Twilight is causing another crusade. The crusades started as religious disagreements. And escaltated to a bloody war. I will not be surprised if Twilight causes the same thing.

the most comfort i find from all this is these girls will grow up eventually, and they will think about the stupid things they did when they were younger, and forever kick themselves in the ass over it once they have the mental capacity to realize just how childish and stupid they were.

Unless they are already adults... There was one mom I read about who has a son named Jacob, and after she started reading Twilight and got pregnant again she decided she was going to name her unborn son Edward and wanted to put her son she already had up for adoption. Just because his name was Jacob and she hated that character. D:

I actually wrote a response to this on DA, (ah the magic of copy/paste) Response to =Hamstertastic reports' "Twilight Fans/Haters, beware."
It seems to me that this is going to be one of those things where people either will or will not believe this...
I myself have been hit in the head with the spine of an "Eclipse" book when I said that the series sucked in comparison with Anne Rice. (For the record, that F***ing hurts... a LOT!>) Are all of you going to believe me...? Probably not... I can't blame you either. It's hard to believe this kind of stuff without proof. And as several people, I'm sure, will understand, this isn't so much an issue of "twilight" or "expressing opinions" (although I can see an arguement for the latter.) It seems to me that this is, in fact, a matter of people needing to calm down! There is no reason why someone should be attacked over a FICTIONAL CHARACTER! Saying "Viva la Edward!" then beating someone up is not worth the assault charges, people.
Everyone is entitiled to be able to say; "Hey, I like Twilight," or; "Really? I don't think it's all that great..." WITHOUT A BOOK TO THE FACE! And whether it's "Twilight" or not that is being argued, is entirely irrelevant. So I'm not going to say that the acid insident happened or didn't happen, but I wouldn't rule out the option that it's entirely possible. I mean, maybe the girl was off her meds or something, maybe it didn't happen. Who knows? I'm just saying that whether or not that did happen, I know people are being made fun of or physically harmed because of fandom.

I am very vocal about my hatred for Twilight. It's just a subject I don't talk about with my friends though. They all got recruited one by one into the Twilight world, so I have to tone down my anger. I wish that my friends could see how stupid they are... the books are just terrible. D:

Wow, been hit in the head with a book I'm sorry that sucks! But I totally agree with you on the whole Anne Rice books being better than Twilight I think she writes much better and Lestat is just as cool if not cooler than Edward, but anyway I still can't believe people do these things! I enjoyed Twilight but seriously.... oh and whoever said Lord of the Rings is better, agreed, Lord of the Rings is the best! haha.
