I don't know much details on the story, but I think she should have used basic common sense in knowing that this man who is old enough to be her father is sending her sexual messages then promising to take her to cons to stay away from him. It's sad what happened, but still she had to have some feeling that something might happen or who she might hurt others with her actions. The police needs to investigate the family situation which will give some insight in why she would leave. If the parents are found to have mental issues or abusing the girl then it would be more clear why she would go with that man. I do hope she is found safe.

well if it is a case of abuse i would think the "family friend" would have done the right thing and took her to the police him self. NOT taking a minor out of state <_< so to me it is mainly to mans failt but yes the girl needed to use her head.

You made that sound like the creepy old guy in a van with Candy thing. So I mean did she not tell anyone anything? Like how well can a 14 year old hide that kind of stuff? Who know how long they were talking as well? I mean how may have been like talking to her well before hand and such.

I dunno, this whole situation is really messed up, and I know she's from Oklahoma and yes that's several hours from here, but still, it just weirds me out when I hear about these kinds of things happening so close by, I mean who knows what kinds of people are out there and I do see how it can be alluring for older men to be all like OOO~ LITTLE GIRLS IN TINY OUTFITS but still >__>;; that's so not right at all, I dunno, I get a lot of creepy guys like that messaging me on myspace being all like HEY I LIKE YOUR COSPLAY~ WE SHOULD HANG OUT SOMETIME and I'm all *denies* BLOCK D< so yeah D: she should've done that, but hey, if she really does love the guy and what she thinks is really true then hopefully she's off somewhere with him and she's ridiculously happy and he's not doing anything too bad, like maybe it's all going to work out? but I dunno..I don't see how someone so young like her could fall for someone so much older D:

well as for the outfits you know my standing on that captainAura, and even if they are fully clothed it still happenes. I will agree that just because a women dresses skimpy does not mean you can hit on them. At the same time the saying goes "if you do not want to be looked at that way, then don't dress that way".

but thats not the case here this is defferent, yes she should have used her head like i said before. Most just tell you to get bent, and call you names for trying to help. The promise of a anime con i feel was just something that sicko used to get her to go

Well I have a feeling she won't wind up at astl or anything around here in Missouri since the article said she was heading out west towards California and someone said before *doesn't have the patience to scroll back up and look* xD that the real main anime con in California would be Anime Expo, but that doesn't mean that that's necessarily where they're heading, but if I was the staff there I'd definitely keep a flier around the registration table or something like..to just make sure that they don't try and get in because if they do then they can be all HEEEY IT'S THE PEDOBEAR D< and yeah ._. someone should write the staff, but chances are I bet they already know about it, but once again it's sort of silly to assume that they'd be heading there because there's a LOT of popular cons on the way to California like A-Kon and Oni Con and stuff like that in Texas ._.;; so really there's cons all over the place, but then again if he was just all RAWR I'MA KIDNAP YOU D<!! then chances are they're not going to any heavily populated places anytime soon -__-; and plus at cons people take a lot of pictures so chances are they wouldn't go there because then pictures of the two of them would wind up on the internet and they'd be found a lot faster >__<;;

Unfortunately, it's unlikely she'll ever be heard from again. It's been over a month's time now. Sorry to be all doom and gloom, but there's a certain point where you have to start being realistic about such things.

Basically all we can do at this point is spread the word around to keep an eye out for this guy, for her parent's sake. The guy's got to turn up somewhere.
