So I had went this year and seen a lot of Lolita, does anyone no any? Do you all think they are mean? Why do you think so? Examples of why you tthink so? I am doing this on behavior for a school project. Do you think because they where expensive clothes they feel they have a right to look down on other styles and people?
Thank you all

Mintswirl is a Lolita, and so are many of my friends. All are very sweet to me and others, and I don't believe their clothing has anything to do with their personalities.
I'm not a lolita, but I do have a few friends that are, Mintswirl in particular (and she's a sweetie~), and I think they are very sweet. But overall I still believe it all depends on the person, everyone can be as mean and whiney as they so choose really in my opinion. Particularly with Lolitas, I do not believe in any way they are the same as "The people who buy fashion clothing becuase they can" types, since many Lolita's I've met do not have the money for the life style, yet strive to really gain the clothing. My friend Jo for instance, absolutely fell inlove with the style and feels prettiest when she's dressed in Lolita. It isn't even about the money for Lolita's that I've seen, since many make their own skirts since brand name is quiet expensive. Lolita is more dedication to the style, though many have different reasons for being Lolita.

Until just now I didn't even realize that lolita was considered a fashion style. I'm not sure if I've ever actually seen someone who dresses in lolita style (outside of perhaps cosplay) or what it even looks like out amongst actual people. Anyone mind providing some reference pics? I'm thinking if I google "lolita fashion" I may not get what I bargained for.

In my opinion, they are only mean when people say Lolita is cosplay because it isn't.
To me, you are cosplaying lolita ONLY IF you are cosplaying someone who wears lolita, like Misa. Other than that, it is not cosplaying.
I am hoping, when I have more money, I will try and dress up in lolita more.

Guilt-Na isn't lolita even.. XD; Thats just a fetish, its more Ero-Lolita.
It isn't about the money to the lolita's, its about wearing what they love. I make my friends their lolita outfits, I haven't made one for myself yet though. They fork over all that money becuase its what they love, not becuase it is expensive.

Guilt-Na WOULD be ero, but he/she ( I don't even know ) is a fictional character. So it's cosplay. >_>
But no. Not all lolita are mean. Just like not all people are mean.

Plus, I can't sew, so I am SOL.

on the subject of lolita's being "mean".....i'm gonna have to say that there are a FEW that are stuck up and "elitist". I get this from a lolita's blog on myspace and alot of girls (from online forums) complain on whats "real" lolita and whats "fake" and they're real quick to point that person out >w<. BUT I also know ALOT more lolita's that are extremely nice and sweet. But I think it was said before that you can find mean people anywhere in any kinda style genre. And no i'm not lolita myself but i take the time out to do research on Japanese fashion. ((GYARU FOR THE WIINNN!! lol))

Well, I have a question for the lolitas
Does it matter if you have brand-name lolita (i.e. BTSSB, Angelic Pretty, etc.) or if you get knock-offs from places like ebay? Because I cannot afford brand-name lolita stuff and I find some really beautiful, moderately priced things on ebay. So basically I am asking, do lolitas get offended when someone is wearing knock-offs and calling it lolita?
Just wondering ^^
