[well, i don't believe i've started any posts, so i decided to make one] i really want to know if anybody has hobbies, or does anything they like that people believe will get you nowhere in life. or any at all, i suppose. i, for one, like graphic & web design, and drawing, but my parents disapprove, and most of my friends say there's no need for it. AND some [being my friends] are trying to own me at it with Gimp. [Gimp will never beat Photoshop.] soo, i'd like to know if i'm the only one with a junk hobby or not. and it will make my heart very happy if this ends up with replies  Attachments:

besides cosplay? lol. well a lot of people disapprove of a new hobby I just got into; BJDs (ball jointed dolls) They say its stupid and rediculous to spend hundreds of dollars on dolls. But my doll really helps me with my art and story writing, and helps me get better at developing deep characters. Plus, they're so pretty! X3 So yeah, that's mine ^-^

A hobby of mine includes freaking people out. Like going up behind them and making a dying dinosaur noise. LOL you should see their faces.
Another hobby is also art. I hate it when people tell you it will get you nowhere in life cause that is not true.

My parents and friends mock my liberal arts and music degree. They say that all I'll be doing in either NYC or L.A. is waiting tables trying to get my big break and sell my failed Hollywood movies scripts and music scores for big name movies.
EDIT: All joking aside, I think I never encounter anyone who said me being a musician is worthless, I have yet to find any naysayers about my passion towards playing the violin and composing music. Now for my gaming, yeah, I get naysayers but over the years, it have died down a bit.
For my limited anime hobby, my dad doesn't like anime. He use to tease me about it saying how all anime was violent and most of it are over-the-top gorefest and sexual perversion (Because as we all know, Card Captor Sakura and Astro Boy is more violent than Elfen Lied and Higurashi combine. God forbid anyone sees the Haruhi/Mikiru groping scenes. Haruhi's more sexual than any mainstream hentai series around.).
However, he has stop this since he figured that I don't give a rat ass and the fact that he doesn't do the research.
BTW, I like GIMP! I'm using it for my SNES hacking project. :/

Lol well what perverted 18 year old with out a girlfriend doesnt have a disapproved hobby. Lol im a collector for one >:3. Besides that mine are fps and mmos, And i also like designing weapons.....future dictator....nah >.>....<.<.....Muhahahahaha jking oh and sharp objects ^~^

Hm I do graphic design for a magazine that a club I'm president of makes. I rather love it so people can suck it up. Other then that though I guess comic books would be one? I've played magic once. I was raised in a house full of comic books and that sort of stuff so I guess my love for all of it came from the way I was raised.

My parents don't really disapprove of any of my hobbies...
My art teacher actually gets annoyed that I mostly draw cartoonish pictures in my sketchpad though, even though she said we could draw whatever we wanted as long as we had something in there.

Make-up. I spend way too much on it and have no intention of making a career/future with it. I can easily blow all my spending budget on eyeshadows and fun eyelashes. It's a fun hobby and I enjoy it.
