I've had 3 and a half years of Japanese and 12 courses on Japanese (although for 2 and a half years I was taking classes at a pretty bad school at a really slow pace).
Would anyone be interested in a Japanese speaking thread? My skills have gone downhill quickly and I could use the practice.

I'm taking Japanese 1 right now but luckily my teacher is a Japanese native. So this means she's all fluent and has an accent and is all awesome at it x3 so I'm being trained pretty well by my sensei and she's a total fox x3

I took Japanese 1 and 2, but sadly, I have to wait a year before taking the rest because my school only teaches the first 2. Luckily, my teacher also teaches 3 and up at my college of choice, so I'll be going there to continue my education.
I also took 7 years of Spanish but only know as much as first-year Spanish students know. >_>

I took personal lessons for a few years, but abotu a month ago, my sensei made plans to return to Japan, so we had to end it...It was very sad...
It had a hard time sticking...But I know more then I could have learned in anime!
I only know basic sentences mostly. I hope to continue study on my own with tapes etc. (good luck, right?) and maybe talking to my sensei through Skype if we get it. Although that sounds kinda complicated for my tastes. Id rather suprise her with what I learn on my own!

I know just enough to hold my own in simple conversations. I would like to study more if I could make the time for it.

I'm so jealous of all of you who can actually take classes! My school is too stupid to offer japanese. All they have is spanish, french and german >=[ But I guess that's what the internet is for ^_^

I wouldn't study it online...it's a language that you really need someone with you to correct you. It's not as bad as Chinese, but there are certain sounds that can cause problems if you don't correct it right away. A lot of the time, you can't hear what you're doing wrong, and you could end up saying something quite odd (which is kind of fun in its own way, lol).
I would say wait until college to study. And, if possible, have a Japanese native teach you the language. ^_^
