I'm trying to avoid the trap of learning a language just because of a fandom.

I know a decent amount I guess. I've been working on my russian more than anything recently, although.
I enjoy learning languages. I'm up to 5 now. My boyfriend is teaching me german randomly, too.

I can but the forum doesn't seem to like all the kana and kanji I was trying to type. I studied Japanese for 4 years, that's 8 semesters and 9 actual classes (yeah, the math doesn't work there, I know). One of the years that I studied I was learning at Kansai University in Osaka <3

I can't even read it if it's in kanji or anything like that. Only if it's in romaji.

My high school offered it, so I took it for three years. :3 I miss my teacher, she was amazing.

The high school I went to offered Spanish, French, German, Latin and Japanese. I heard a rumor that they're adding Chinese soon, though.

oddly enough I went to a high school that offered french german and sign language as their language courses.
No japanese, they got rid of it the year before I transfered. It sucked too.
I've been into Japan/Japanese since I was a kid. Japan and Egypt were my major fixations, even before ever having watched anime.

My high school didn't offer any Asian languages. Dead languages, but no Asian ones. I really would have liked Japanese at my high school, but Korean would have been more appropriate since the area where I lived had a huge Korean population.
Like makoneko, I've been into Japan & Japanese since I was a kid, before I started watching anime. I was born in Misawa Air Bare in the northern part of Honshu. So even though I moved from Japan when I was still a baby, and I'm not in any way Japanese, I always wanted to learn about the country and the language and culture.
