Im planning on cosplaying this year as Gurren Lagann from, go figure, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann I just got a bunch of plaster cloth to make a plaster cast of my whole body so that i could in time make an exact fiberglass copy of myself to start working on the design of the suit. And once that copy is made it can be used to make other suits. Even Alphonse Elric if i decided to bite my lip and make that pain in the butt helmet of his lol.

The body cast didnt quite keep its shape as at was drying so Im going to have to do it again. This time instead of using plaster cloth Im going to try using burlap and quick drying concrete. I think that will work better.

Finished doing my head cast last night. That was a lot of fun. Once it started drying out a little bit I grabbed a sharpie and handed it to my friend who helped me. I think she had more fun drawing on me than anything else.

I tested out the burlap and cement cast on my foot the other day. Silly me, I didnt get the quick drying cement. I kept the cast on for about 2 hours and it still wasnt dry. So I took it off. I didnt throw it away though. I let it dry over night just to see how well it would work. I only did 2 layers for the cast and it rock hard and not moving at all.
I just finished filtering out all the rocks out of a bag of quick drying cement I had. So some time tonight I will cast my foot again to see how long it will take to dry enough to take it off.

Well, I tried casting my foot with the burlap and cement like I said I would. Kept the thing on for 2 hours and it wasnt dry. So I took it off and it just collapsed. Im just gonna do it with the plaster cloth and get it over with. From the way the burlap and cement went I dont have the patience for it to do a body cast in it. So Im gonna have to do it again with the plaster cloth. This time Im gonna have much bigger pieces than what Ive done before so that it can be done quicker. That way I wont have to stand there as long and it will hopefully work this time around.

I had lost a person that was helping me with the body cast so I was left with only one. So unfortunately I couldnt stand still long enough to have the full body done at once. I atleast got my legs and hips casted last night. To help them keep their shape better I had the edges of both halfes reinforced with 2 more layers of plaster cloth. They turned out pretty good I think. Gonna try and do my torso and arms tonight if I can.

The body casts are finally finished! Got my torso done tonight. The next step is smoothing out the inside with plaster of paris.

And here it is smoothed out. I could sand it after it fully dries, but I really dont need to.

Now that the plaster has dried completely, didnt need 24 hours but oh well lol, its time to prep it for the fiberglass. All that needs to be done is just putting a good coat of petroluem jelly on the casts to act as a release agent for the fiberglass.
