If, while wearing an L cosplay, you hear the words, "L IS FOR LICK" shrieked by fangirls-- Duck. Quickly. -__-"

If wearing an L cosplay, you probably shouldn't be wearing an L cosplay.
*rimshot*
Disclaimer: This post is made in jest, I really don't mind if you wear an L cosplay. Some of my best friends wear L cosplays. I simply choose not to exercise my God-given right to wear an L cosplay.

shikamaruastl reminded me of something from Sugoi con. Never shout "Believe it" in the middle of someone talking about how much they hate the english dub. xD my friend learned that the hard way.. and get there fairly early lines are evil and if you can't bring something distracting.

Oh, I have some tips since my last con I went to was a bit of a disaster...and was my first...
1. Don't leave your pocky unattended. It may get ganked. Haha.
2. Running + glass bottle in your pocket = broken glass outside. >>
3. Cell Phone is your best friend in a sea of cosplayers, unless someone you're with is dressed as his or her own character, lol.
4. I only went for one day. But, yes, eat something. Don't try to survive on pocky and soda. If you have to bring a big ol' bag of chips or bring money to buy actual food given there might be food places around.
5. Smile and play nice.
6. Don't be a jerk. Met some guy at the con and were hanging out some odd hour at night....he was acting rudely to the entire group that was up and about.
7. When flipping through artwork...don't just open to the back of the book. o///o

these will be my tips, most will be the same as others, but yeah 1) cosplaying is of course a fun thing to do. not required, but it does save you $5 that you could spend on food :3 which leads me into my next tip.. 2) actually eat something other than pocky, and get enough sleep, and drink enough water. i've never had this issue but I'm sure it's no fun being sick or delusional from not doing these things 3) be nice. expect random glomps and crazy people :3 these are the things that make going to cons fun imo. 4) take pictures, and don't be afraid to ask people to get their pics. That's one thing I have issues with because I'm so quiet, but they usually have a nice little pose that makes the pic awesome sauce. 5) Simply enjoy yourself. Meet new people. Learn something new That's all I've got. Enjoy Anime St.Louis~<3

If you're in a panel room, you should pay attention to the panelists. Panelists appreciate an audience that is interested in the topic, not random people ducking out of the hallway to converse. Not to mention you're ruining it for everyone around you. A lot of people are awfully nice and will look the other way, but that is no reason to take advantage of them.
Especially because on the flip side, if it's my group or any of our friends running the panel, we are not nice to disruptors. Enjoy the unwelcome attention. I don't believe we'll be running anything at AStL, but at Acen...

Pshaw, that's not gonna happen, Chaos-chan. When we meet up, I'll be dragging you guys all over the con, all smiley and bouncy. XDDD Just think, first convention: Haruhi Suzumiya style.
On a more serious note(XD), I MIGHT be a bit shy to ask for a picture. Because I've seen some really cool cosplayers, and if I ever met them, I wouldn't want to mess up their awesome glory. XDDD I would just get a bit worried, because I've heard that a few people can be a bit snobbish. Hopefully nothing like that will happen at ASTL. X3
Oh yeah, and, so I don't get off topic, these suggestions are great! I'm gonna have to make some notes. XP

Everyone has been in my experience, super nice and lovely.

My advice, stay away from room parties.

1. Keep your purse/ wallet on your person at all times, or with a trusted friend. I know a person who had an awesome purse stolen before, with all her ID adn money inside.
2. SHOWER!!! You may not mind your body oder, but the guy waiting in line behind you may be suffering
3. Pack on the deoderant
4. The buddy system. Sometimes bad things happen, don't let it happen to you
5. If you do have a problem, talk to con security about it. They are there to help you.
6. Keep your phone on and charged. You may be having a great time, but your mom could be worried that you aren't picking up. (I know someone who's parents called the police to make sure all was well when phone calls weren't answered)
7. Be sure to save money for food besides con candy or bring your own food for snacks. getting sick after a con for not taking care of yourself almost makes the con not worth it in my opinion.
8. Only sleep in your room, or a safe place. This saves you from other doodling on your face or your wallet being ganked.
9. Bring a sewing kit. You or a friend may have a costume malfunction.
10. Bring a mirror.
11. Drink water when you are thirsty! This is important. At a con, one tends to dehydrate very fast and water is the best drink you can drink to replace your fluids.
12. Bring a camera, but be sure to ask if you can take a photo first. Sometimes people don't like their picture taken. (there could be a problem with their costume)
13. Don't glomp people unexpectedly. This can hurt someone badly and make you look like a douche for giving someone an accidental bloody nose.
14. Watch your language. Most conventions are family friendly and there are children present. I'm sure their parents do not appreciate their kids hearing naughty language.
15. Be careful with your props. Hallways can get crowded and sometimes props will break or hurt someone accidentally
16. Get a schedule of events so you can map out your time. Be sure you bring a watch, or some way to tell time because all the cons I have been to have had no clocks ANYWHERE.
17. Go to the Bathroom whenever you need to. Holding it is bad for you.
18. Don't spend all your money at once. On the last day, there are usually sales.
19. Don't be afraid to take a break. Your body is most likely not used to a full day of fun, and you can get sick from exhaustion.
20. If someone snaps at you, don't take it personally. A lot of drama happens at anime cons, and they could be having a bad moment. Remember, that. it is important.
21. (in response to rakuen) If you are doing an L cosplay, do it right. L does not have a part in his hair... (huge pet peeve of mine) Just take some gell and mess up your hair really good. lol. No parts! Hope this helps. I've been to quite a few cons so this is what I know.

I've seen a couple of people on here say that you shouldn't be afraid to hug people or that you should only ask before a glomp...I beg to differ. NEVER HUG SOMEONE WITH OUT ASKING FIRST EVEN IF YOUR NOT GLOMPING THEM!
I don't like being touched. Its bad enough when I know its going to happen, but if its a surprise my uncontrollable knee jerk reaction is to punch/kick/something else violent whoever is touching me. I've elbowed good friends in the stomach hard enough to make them ill because of this, so random con goers wouldn't be exempt.

*looks up from notepad* Yeah, Rowena, I know what you mean. X3 When my guy friend pokes me in the side, I react by either twisting his arm or nearly breaking his finger off. XDDD I HATE that. I hate being tickled. I don't remember to breathe. And, apparently, I don't like being touched in certain spots, either. XD
